MVP INTRODUCES HIS POSSE
Montel Vontavious Porter kicked off the show, celebrating his attack upon the Rated R Superstar next week. He said as happy as he was to have JTG back in the fold, he was just as happy to have a new member of his Posse. He said that he was ballin' at a nightclub a few weeks ago and met a fellow A-lister and they hit it off famously. Which is great because he's famous in his own right, being the husband of American Idol Jennifer Hudson. He introduced his "homeboy", "A-List" David Otunga! Otunga took the mic and said he's here to win championships and make money. And it doesn't matter if he has to hurt Edge, CM Punk, or anyone else to do it. MVP closed reminding Edge that he's through with the Rated R Superstar.

King of the Ring - Semi-Finals:
The Brian Kendrick pinned Montel Vontavious Porter with the Kendrick in 0:06:08.
Rating: * * * *

Despite his promise to be done with Edge, MVP may have had something else on his mind during this match against The Brian Kendrick, as he fell victim to the former US champion's trademark maneuver and was eliminated from the King of the Ring tournament! Both JTG and Otunga tried to get to Kendrick after the bell, but the Freak Out Phenom swiftly escaped and celebrated up the ramp. He's a win next week away from claiming a championship opportunity at SummerSlam!

HURRICANE PROMISES A SHOCKER, PUNK PICKS HIS POISON
The Hurricane came out and said that tonight he and WWE champion CM Punk would be playing a game of Pick Your Poison. Hurricane promised to shake Punk to his very core with his selection for later tonight, but before he could announce anything, the Straight Edge Society came out and Punk (wearing his newly minted WWE championship belt) told Hurricane that it doesn't matter who he faces later tonight, because right now he's sending down his challengers for the evening. Hurricane found he would be facing Ezekiel Jackson AND Luke Gallows right away!

As powerful as the superhero is, even The Hurricane couldn't overcome the combined strength of the Straight Edge Society's bruisers. After the match, Punk tried to shave Hurricane's hair, but the challenger recovered and escaped the ring, grabbing a sledgehammer from outside and chasing the Second City Saint away!

REY MYSTERIO ACCEPTS MCGUINNESS'S CHALLENGE
Backstage, Rey Mysterio was introduced with his newly crafted Intercontinental championship. Mysterio said that next week, he will accept the challenge of Nigel McGuinness. But he wants Nigel to bring his entire arsenal, because they're going to light the arena on fire and leave it all in the ring next week in their two out of three falls bout.

King of the Ring - Semi-Finals:
Gregory Shane Helms pinned Mr. Kennedy after an inverted facelock elbowdrop in
0:11:08.
Rating: * * *
[Jack Swagger interfered against Mr. Kennedy.]

Many speculated that Helms's recent obsession with the returning Hurricane would lead to his downfall in the King of the Ring tournament, but after tonight's victory, he stands one win away from being crowned king and main eventing SummerSlam! But it wasn't without controversy, as the "All-American American" Jack Swagger blasted Kennedy with a brutal lariet, aiding GSH in picking up the victory. Helms will face The Brian Kendrick next week for the title of king and the right to main event SummerSlam!

CODY RHODES MEETS HIS NEXT CHALLENGERS
Television champion "Dashing" Cody Rhodes was interviewed backstage regarding his title defense next week. Before Rhodes was told the championship committee's decision, he said that he hopes it's his brother Goldust because he would love to beat his head in one more time. But if it's the "Celtic Warrior" Sheamus, he'd have no trouble dispatching him. But when he found out he'd be facing both men in a triple threat match, Cody's demeanor changed to a much more grim state.

PUNK PROMISES VICTORY NEXT WEEK
WWE Champion CM Punk made his way out for his Pick Your Poison match and said that after he makes short work of his opponent tonight, he's going to go on to retain his championship against Hurricane next week and defeat either The Brian Kendrick of Gregory Shane Helms at SummerSlam. But just as he began to guarantee victory there, the familiar theme music for John Cena played and CM Punk froze immediately as the Chain Gang Soldier appeared on the ramp! Punk's eyes bugged out of his head as he scrambled to get away, but it was no use! John Cena had returned and was his opponent tonight!

Rating: * * 1/2

Tonight's action began with the Jamaican Sensation picking up a well-earned victory over the "Perfect Son" Joseph Hennig. Hennig nearly pulled off the victory with the Perfect Plex, but the ref was out of position and failed to make the fall before Kingston kicked out. With the victory, Kofi moves on to the Top Contenders bout next week for a shot at the Television championship at SummerSlam, but Hennig seemed none too pleased to have taken the somewhat controversial loss, shouting some choice words at Kofi after the bell had sounded.

David Otunga pinned Jamie Noble with the Verdict in 0:06:56.
Rating: * * 1/2

The A-List made his successful WWE debut tonight, showing off his physically dominating style in a victory over Jamie Noble. Otunga was joined by JTG and MVP, and the trio posed for the crowd's photographs after the bell. Certainly more for their own benefit than that of the fans.

Marcus Cor Von pinned Ray Gordy with the Pounce in 0:05:30.
Rating: * * * * 1/4

The Alpha Male moves on to the Top Contender match next week against Kofi Kingston, and one of them will face the Television champion at SummerSlam for the gold! Ray Gordy put on a surprisingly impressive performance against Cor Von, showing the most offense anyone has shown against the Alpha Male thus far in his WWE tenure. But one ferocious Pounce was all it took for Cor Von to knock out Gordy and move on to the bout next week against Kingston!

JOHN CENA RETURNS
The Chain Gang Soldier made his official return to WWE tonight delivering an in-ring promo on WWE champion CM Punk and the Straight Edge Society. Cena said it had been a long, hard rehabilitation. Maybe the toughest of his career, but all he thought about since being laid out by Punk and the SES last May was getting revenge on those responsible. And he promised to get himself back in a position to contend for the WWE championship and would take out CM Punk for himself and every one of his fans.

(Rey Mysterio retained the WWE Intercontinental Title.)

Despite getting himself to a 1-0 advantage, pinning the IC champion with a Jawbreaker Lariat early, Nigel McGuinness came up short once again in his quest to step up and win Intercontinental gold, as champion Rey Mysterio pulled off two straight falls to claim victory and retain the championship. After the bout was over, Rey surprisingly offered Nigel his hand in respect! Perhaps even more shockingly, Nigel accepted his handshake and raised Mysterio's hand in victory! A classy move by each man to close this bout. What does the future hold for each man in WWE competition?

KENNEDY CALLS OUT SWAGGER
Backstage, Mr. Kennedy was interviewed and said that last week Jack Swagger made a huge mistake and invited a big problem into his life when he cost Kennedy a chance at being King of the Ring. CENA WANTS PUNK AT SUMMERSLAM
After costing CM Punk the WWE Championship last week, John Cena made his intentions clear that he wants to eradicate the Straight Edge Society! He challenged Punk to a bout at SummerSlam and said he wanted either Ezekiel Jackson or Luke Gallows tonight! This brought the SES out, and Punk said that what Cena doesn't understand is that even without the WWE title, his Straight Edge campaign continues to grow. And he's successfully converted another WWE superstar to his camp. Punk said he'd accept Cena's challenge for SummerSlam. But tonight, if Cena wants some of the SES, he'll have to take out Gallows one-on-one.

Zack Ryder pinned El Fragilico with the Zack Attack in 0:05:14.
Rating: * *

In tonight's Showcase bout, the Long Island Loudmouth had little trouble putting away El Fragilico with the Zack Attack. Druing the match, Ryder cut an insert promo saying that he intends to rise through the ranks and get himself a Television championship match sooner than later. Woo woo woo. You know it.

MVP GIVES EDGE ONE LAST CHANCE
After weeks of denying the Rated R Superstar a one-on-one match, MVP said that if Edge can recover from the attack his Posse laid on him several weeks ago, he'll give Edge a shot at a rematch. MVP said that Edge must defeat David Otunga and JTG to earn a match at SummerSlam, and the challenge begins next week.

Top Contender Match
Marcus Cor Von pinned Kofi Kingston with the Pounce in 0:08:21.
Rating: * * *
[Joe Hennig interfered against Kofi Kingston.]

In a Top Contender Match mired by controversy, the Alpha Male was victorious over the Jamaican Sensation and will go on to face Television champion Sheamus at SummerSlam! Still furious over his loss to Kingston last week, "The Perfect Son" Joseph Hennig made his way out and took the opportunity to blast Kofi over the head with a clubbing forearm shot! Neither the ref nor Cor Von saw this, and Marcus hit Kofi with the Pounce to get the victory! But the question remains, what exactly has gotten into Hennig?

NIGEL GETS A VISIT FROM HIS PAST
Backstage, Nigel McGuinness was interviewed on his loss to Intercontinental champion Rey Mysterio last week. McGuinness said he shook Rey's hand last week because he respects Rey and Rey was the better man that night. But he said no matter how much respect he has for someone, that's not going to stop him from beating their bloody heads in when they step into the ring. Here, the interview was shockingly interrupted by a returning William Regal! Regal eyed up Nigel and simply walked away without saying a word…

The Brian Kendrick pinned Chris Jericho with the Kendrick in 0:05:13.
Rating: * * * * 1/4

The Freak Out Phenom may have lost out on the opportunity to main event SummerSlam, but that didn't stop him from continuing his recent run of success over top level competition as he defeated former world champ Chris Jericho tonight! Jericho threw an absolute tantrum afterward, trashing the announce table and tossing chairs into the ring! Obviously, Jericho's frustrated with not having held the same recent success of somebody like Kendrick.

THE HURRICANE CONFRONTED BY THE KING OF WRESTLING
New WWE Champion The Hurricane came out to thank the fans for all their support in helping him defeat CM Punk and win his first world championship last week on Raw! This brought out an irate King of Wrestling, as Gregory Shane Helms rushed to the ring and told Hurricane to stop the lie. He said everyone knew Triple H was hiding under that mask, and everyone knew he shouldn't be world champion right now since GSH banished him months ago! Hurricane acted like he had no idea what Helms was referring to, but Helms said that at SummerSlam he was going to prove his theory and unmask Hurricane after he becomes WWE champion. Hurricane said that if he loses, he'll unmask. But if he wins and retains the championship, then GSH has to agree to reinstate the exiled Triple H! Helms balked, but finally agreed to the stipulations of their SummerSlam main event!

Rating: * * *
[Skip Sheffield interfered against Mr. Kennedy.]

The All-American American will go on to SummerSlam to fight for the Intercontinental championship against Rey Mysterio, as he defeated Mr. Kennedy tonight with the help of a gigantic mammoth of a man who delievered a brutal lariat to Kennedy at the end of the match helping Swagger to victory. With Punk distracting the referee, Mysterio delivered a 619 to Cena and allowed Gallows to hit the Twelve Steps for the stunning pinfall victory! MYSTERIO TRIES TO CLEAR HIS NAME
Intercontinental champion Rey Mysterio opened the show tonight, trying to tell John Cena that he hasn't joined the Straight Edge Society and he didn't attack him last week. This brought John Cena out who said he watched the replay of last weeks events over and over, and he knows what he saw. There's no denying that it was Rey Mysterio who attacked him last week. He just wants to know why. But before John could get an answer, Jack Swagger came out with his Secret Service Agent Skip Sheffield and said that it didn't matter why Mysterio joined the SES. All that matters is three weeks from now, at SummerSlam, when he captures the IC title and fulfills his guarantee to the WWE Universe to win a major championship by year's end.

Joseph Hennig pinned Rex Tayler with the Perfect Plex in 0:03:07.
Rating: * * 3/4

The Perfect Son picked up a big singles victory tonight, but was interrupted immediately after by Kofi Kingston! Kingston wanted to know why he cost him a shot at the Television championship last week. Hennig shot back that it was Kofi who cost him a Television title shot two weeks ago when he cheated him out of a victory! These two got into a heated exchange, but security stepped in before it could come to blows. We would find out later in the show that these two would be booked in a match at SummerSlam!

KENNEDY WANTS COMPETITION AT SUMMERSLAM
Mr. Kennedy was interviewed backstage and said he wanted some competition for SummerSlam. He may have lost his opportunity at the IC championship, but he said there's no way he'll be left off the biggest blockbuster of the summer. This brought Nigel McGuinness in, who said he knew plenty about chasing after that IC title. He offered to be his opponent at SummerSlam if the championship committee would make it a Top Contender match. We'd find out later that they would indeed, and this hard-hitting match has been signed for SummerSlam!

Gregory Shane Helms pinned Marcus Cor Von with the Shining Wizard in 0:10:54.
Rating: * * *

The King of Wrestling continues to impress and improve getting closer to his WWE championship bout at SummerSlam with The Hurricane. Sheamus pinned Cody Rhodes with the Pale Justice in 0:04:22.
Rating: * * 3/4
(Sheamus retained the WWE Television Title.)
[Goldust interfered against Cody Rhodes.]

This was "Dashing" Cody Rhodes one and only rematch for the Television championship, but it was once again his brother Goldust who factored into the outcome, allowing the Celtic Warrior to retain the gold! Goldust distracted Cody enough to allow Sheamus to hit the Brogue Kick and the Pale Justice for the pinfall victory. After the match, Cody Rhodes chased after Goldust and "The Alpha Male" Marcus Cor Von hit the ring and nailed Sheamus with the Pounce! Will it be Cor Von who holds the championship belt high after SummerSlam?

THE HURRICANE PROMISES TO RETAIN AT SUMMERSLAM
In the ring, WWE champion The Hurricane promised to keep not only his title at SummerSlam, but his mask as well as he dispatches of "Citizen Helms" and reinstates his good friend Triple H. CM Punk came out at this point with his Straight Edge Society (minus Rey Mysterio), telling Hurricane not to make bets he doesn't have the cash to cover. He said that The Hurricane owed his a championship rematch and he planned to collect next week. And when he wins, his match with John Cena will be non-title, because Cena doesn't deserve another title match with him.

Edge defeated David Otunga by disqualification in 0:10:04.
Rating: * * 1/4
[JTG interfered against Edge.]

The Rated R Superstar will face MVP at SummerSlam, but once again Porter and his Posse laid out Edge giving the Ballin' Superstar a definitive advantage three weeks away from the pay-per-view. Rather than allow Edge to garner the win, JTG and MVP attacked him during the bout, causing the disqualification. It would seem this was MVP's plot all along and it worked to perfection for Mr. 305, as the trio left Edge unconscious in the center of the ring afterward.

DANIEL BRYAN IS COMING
A video promo for the "American Dragon" Daniel Bryan played, announcing that the international independent wrestling sensation would make his WWE debut the night after SummerSlam.

Ezekiel Jackson pinned John Cena with the Book of Ezekiel in 0:10:27.
Rating: * 1/4
[Rey Mysterio interfered against John Cena.]

There can be hardly any doubt that Rey Mysterio has joined up with the Straight Edge Society, having 619ed and interfered against John Cena two weeks in a row, tonight costing him his bout against Ezekiel Jackson. Rey delivered a 619 behind the referee's back and bolted to the locker room, allowing Jackson to hit the former world champ with the Book of Ezekiel and pin him for the biggest victory of his career! With two straight setbacks against the SES (and one new foe to battle), will John Cena be able to overcome the odds at SummerSlam?
